| Are there any viable alternatives to driving ? Caltrain doesn't go to Gilroy on the weekends.
I always wanted to go and never made it. This is a highly popular event and as a result the traffic is insane. -- Got some spare cpu cycles ? Join Team Helix or Team Starfire! |

1 edit | reply to blueOne It does not surprise me that traffic is expected to be bad. Any time you get 60,000 or so people per day arriving at an event but have only one lane on each of the exit ramps you would expect long lines. Now you guys/gals in SJ, are there some recommended good restaurants downtown for the day before/after the Festival? |

Back, went yesterday. Started cooler when we arrived 9:45 AM, stayed until 1:30 and it was over 94, hotter today. Like going to a county fair with 80,000 other people. |

| Went on Saturday as well. My thermometer showed 97, but I'm not sure how accurate that is.
I enjoyed it, but I'm not sure I'd go again given how long it took to just get in (and getting out wasn't much better either). I'd go again if Caltrain would extend their hourly weekend service to Gilroy for the Garlic Festival (assuming shuttle bus service to and from the train station).
Great food and the Pyro Chefs at the Gourmet Alley were fun to watch. -- Got some spare cpu cycles ? Join Team Helix or Team Starfire! |
