Vonage Hardware Warranty Silliness

MisterEd posted : One of my 2 "V-Portals" died within the 1 year warranty period. So I email tecLESS support for a warranty replacement. They keep telling me it's the power adapter that's bad but since I have 2 devices I (obviously) swapped them and determined they both are good. So after 4 emails I finally convince them of this they say they will replace my device under warranty but I must commit to extending my "REBATE RECOVERY PERIOD" (this means if I cancel service within a year they will charge me back an ADDITIONAL $80 for the rebate I was given when I first signed up 8 months ago). I'd love to post the chain of emails that went back and forth for the last 2 days but I don't want to bore everyone. Just totally absurd and pathetic.

There is absolutely nothing about this in their TOS other then that equipment has a 1 year warranty. So I ask them where it states the RRP will be extended 1 year if a warranty replacement is needed and they quote me the "initial signup" terms.

Anyway ... it was the most frustrating experience I have had with any company I have dealt with in my lifetime (and I'm a card carrying member of AARP so it's been a relatively long lifetime). It's like talking to robots except their names were Sandeep, Pradeep, Aashish, Haasraj and a few others.

No wonder their stock is below 35cents. Totally unreal. Anyway, I will obtain another device free through other means and as soon as my initial year is up they will be history.

Yes, I know I will have to suck up $39.95 per line fine print "cancellation fee" but it will be worth it to rid myself of these idiots.
