sashwa posted : Good idea about tieing him out while I'm out there with him. I'll try that.

I think you're right about him thinking I abandoning him. The first week I had him, Ra came over with the boys to meet him. We decided to go to lunch. It was the first time I had ever left him. My landlords' where out in the yard working on a camper so I left him tied out with them. By the time we got back (only a little over an hour) he had nearly chewed thru his halter to get loose.
--
TH ~ NE ~ EPN ~ NC ~ TD

He thinks you're leaving him, or whatever the previous owners did. Calm and gentle changes his mind. Over time.

But, you've been there before, I'd imagine. Try walking him in the yard at first, then transition to stake-out while you're doing yard work or something quiet but present, then transition to short unaccompanied stakeout.

It's too late now. You've become his "designated human". Somehow, we get picked. :D

sashwa posted : I had no choice in this, he picked me. :D

Ben and Max are getting to be best buds. Sash's nose is still somewhat out of joint. I think he just moves too fast around her at times. She's a wussy cat.

He now has figured out how to go up and down my open, narrow stairs to the 2nd floor. My back and right leg thanks him for that. :D

Still trying to figure out how to get him to do his business in the yard rather than having to take him on a walk all the time. I keep telling him we still will go on walks. I've tried bringing his business home and putting it in the yard and garden, walking him around the yard on his leash and off his leash. But no dice. He has a very strong bladder and has had no accidents. The yard isn't fenced so I can't just leave him out by himself. I got a 16 ft stakeout for him but he freaks out when I latch him to it.
--
TH ~ NE ~ EPN ~ NC ~ TD

sashwa posted : [att=1]

I've been looking for a new kitten but got confused and brought home a pup instead. He's a year old Chihuahua/Pug mix and abut the size of the cats. He is a rescue who was left in a box on the side of a road. Why someone would do that, I have no idea.

He is still adusting to me and the cats but is doing very well. BadMax is teaching him how to nibble on grass outside.
