MisterEd posted : When I said "app" I meant an APP (.ips file), a free standing program that downloads on your phone. On that point I stand corrected (or misunderstood). Back on topic ... you will never see a Vonage app because Vonage is a closed system unless someone hacks a softphone nor will you see any PROGRAM APPLICATION which download directly to your iPhone other then through the app store or a jailbroken phone.. Web "apps" excluded which will work on just about any phone.

Google Voice is not "really" a VOIP phone service. When I call a number from my Google voice account thru their WEB APP on my iPhone I have to be at my HOME PHONE to complete the call. The only "sorta" VOIP service on the iPhone is SKYPE but Apple crippled it.

said by dellsweig:

said by MisterEd:

All iPhone apps must go through the app store unless you jailbreak your phone. Fine one that doesn't require a jailbroken phone.

Also any VOIP app out there now for the iPhone only works on WIFI and won't work on 3G or EDGE because Apple/ATT won't allow it. (Unless you HACK/'jailbreak" your phone to bypass it)

Send me your number - I will call you on Google Voice from my NON-Hijacked Iphone from a 3g connection.

When I call you I can give you some of the MANY sites that have apps for NON-Hijacked Iphones......

Now - PLEASE return the OP to the origional question
