[DVR] Can't delete a scheduled recording.

Ok I'm trying to clean up my scheduled recordings for tonight and onward and I'm canceling one but it makes another recording that is canceled reset.

Tonight at 11:00 there is Lockup:Raw on MSNBC with 2008 in the show description, so we know it's old.

Also at 11:35 there is Desperate Housewives on Ch 231 (ABC-D) with 2006 in the show description, so we know that's old (not to mention it's on at 11:35pm on a Saturday night!

So I can cancel one of those, but not both. Why is that? They are on two different channels and two different times. I'll settle for canceling Desperate Housewives on Ch 231, since that's HD and will use up more drive space.

I know there's a "wack-a-mole" bug for something out there, but I didn't think that applied to two different recordings on two different channels.

I also can't remove the lockup:raw on msnbc starting at the 12:00 AM time slot for Sunday. Desperate housewives resets itself to record. This is odd as well, because it's on a whole other screen.

It's intermittent I guess, because I was able to cancel all 5 old Deadliest Catch recordings from 1 PM through 5 PM on Ch 224 DSCHD for tomorrow (Sunday). Except for the 5 PM show re-enables if I try to cancel Gene Simmons Family Jewels at 5:30 on Ch 211 A&EHD, and I run into the same issue between Gene Simmons and Deadliest Catch at 6, 6:30, 7, and 7:30.

You know what, I found this article on the bug:
»en.wikibooks.org/wiki/How_to_use···k-a-mole

But I still want to bring this to Comcast's attention.

If a member of this forum could bring the Motorola DVR Bugs page to Comcast's attention, it might help them track down some issues to try and squash for future software releases.

Thank you.

Actually, we are very much aware of this issue.

Updated 7/16/09

As reported previously, a guide data issue has been identified in Motorola markets that may cause customer’s DVRs to record repeat episodes set up as a series recordings, even though they have their DVR set to record only new episodes. This may result in the over recording of programs, which may have the customer’s DVR hard drive reach capacity and/or cause DVR scheduling conflicts.

A fix has been implemented but the impact of this issue may continue for some customers through July 30th depending upon when they set up the series recording. All series recordings set up by customers starting today will record properly. However, series recordings set up prior to July 16th will not be fixed until July 30th. This occurs because scheduled recording data is stored on the DVR hard drive which will not self correct until 14-16 days later. This means the issue will not be fully resolved until July 30 at the earliest.

Any of these customers who would like to immediately correct the issue can delete their current scheduled series recording and then reschedule them.

To cancel a scheduled series recording, push the MyDVR button on your remote control, select Scheduled Recordings, locate the series recording by using the right arrow key, select Ok/Select, then select the red dot icon at the bottom of the screen (Set or Cancel a Recording) , select Ok/Select, then select Modify Series Recordings, then select Don’t Record this Series

Yeah I know about the guide data problem. This problem is called Whack-A-Mole. It will occur any time two or more series recordings are on at the same time (or overlapping at all). The only way to cancel both is to cancel one, and then at the actual time of the other series recording, stop it in progress (if you are home to do so).

I know the guide data is getting fixed, but I also want Wack-a-Mole to be fixed as well.

The underlying issue is that it doesn't keep track of the difference between user-canceled and conflict-canceled. If canceled by the user, it should remain canceled.
