[Services] Activation

I need some advice from someone who is experienced with the none phone line att dsl service. I'm ordering this for my mother and i'm curious what activation date I should I set it to. Is activation automatic on att end or will information need to be called in or hardware be setup at the time of activation. Some clarification on this activation process would greatly appreciated.

Att will set a date unless you want to push it to a later date
Billing begins on the activation/service ready date

If you have a look at this faq
How do I register a username and password for my new account?
It explains how to register the dsl after att has set it up
If you ordered dsl direct don't lose the att order confirmation letter it has the dsl direct "account number"
