Its funny, outside of North America, Cable HFC or plain 1 way analog Cable is almost non-existent. Cable TV is purely an American invention. In europe is OTA, or if your rich, satellite, same thing with 3rd world. The only wireline TV you can get is IPTV over ADSL from your incumbant telco, or from CLECs operating IPTV over copper ADSL, or recently FTTH was installed in your city (IPTV again).
Not sure if my cableco would agree with that being that they pass about 50% of the UK's homes. The analogue bit I'll agree on though, think you guys are pretty rare in upgrading HFC networks to higher frequencies to make room rather than just dropping analogue MATV signals.
