| Do I need an amp?
I'm hoping not... the house I bought had an amp on the line, but the drop signal is high already... here is my setup.....
Drop to 3 way balanced splitter.... 1 to eMTA 1 to SB6120 and 1 to the amp... the amp is +15db... the power at the cable modem off the 3 way right now is +7db...
the amp then goes into an 8way splitter... on our SA 4250HDC (think thats the model) box it is saying the power is +11 db for one but then on the other side of the info screen there is a +15db in orange (warrning color) for the digital recieve? i forget i need to have the box infront of me... i think the 8 way splitter is -10db per port (its an atronix 8way)... I think I dont need the amp... anyone else see any reason to keep it on the line? or just drop it? |

| yes, I have 8 lines going through the house...
but why would I need the amp if the signal is that high on the boxes after the amp? I thought closer to zero the better? if its +11db on the box wouldnt the amp be over amplifing the signal? because |

1 edit | reply to neufuse well took off the amp just to see what signals I get after the 8way amp... here it is
channel 2 0db channel 47 0db channel 111 -2db channel 120 -4db
so looks pretty good, no idea why they had an amp on with signals like that without it |
