[HD] pixelation problems with HD service...south jersey

been having consistent problems with our HD service getting progressively worse over the past month. I finally had the last straw with this the other day when we were trying to watch the phillies game on myphl HD, we are getting excessive pausing, pixelation, and audio dropout on most all of the HD channels, primarily focused on 200-240, however the day we were watching the game the SD myphl channel was also dropping the audio.

According to comcasts last service last summer our lines coming into the house were fine, the HDTV is on a 2 way split, one goes to the cable box the other end goes to the upstairs towards the modem. I have good signals on the line going to the tv.

My question here is, is this a typical comcast HD related problem, or should i call them out here to check the lines, or should i exchange the box? The current cable box is a scientific atlanta. My neighbor just got an HD box last week and the comcast store around here gave him a new cisco HD box. The tv we have is a Toshiba bclass tv with 1080p support. Not a cheap tv by no means, we paid 900 for it in nov 08.

You're on Comcast of Garden State like me, correct? We've got no HD pixelation of any kind since we've come on board in early 2007.

It's not just you...

I also have been getting apparently random pausing, pixelation, and audio dropouts on most all of the HD channels. While it may be happening throughout the day, I notice it beginning in the late afternoon on a daily basis on.

The problem is not isolated to any specific channel, and its duration is quite varied - a few (to several) seconds.

My setup is the digital starter package, and I use a cableCard that was replaced (due to failure) on 3/10/09.

This has happened here last year, and (from a cable worker I know) the problem was found in some head-end equipment.

First step would be to swap the box out to see if helps. If it doesn't I would call in for a service call to make sure your line to your house is good. If it is aerial, squirrels love to chew on them and cause all sorts of problems. You may have water in one of the taps. Most probable would be someone in the area is putting out noise and/or voltage on the line which is effecting you and others...

yes it also gets worse at night for us too, and to answer the question about water and squirrels, comcast had a guy out here servicing the box that does our house for a neighbor last week, not sure what he did but he was up there for a good hour.
