HI, im a new customer that recently changed from comcast 12mb down 1mb up
with this uverse i seem to have higher latency in games than i use to with my comcast, they(att) advertised faster speeds. whats the deal?!, is it just me or everybody has higher latency
in counter-strike alone i went up an easy 50MS higher |

| First where are you located?
Secondly do another tracert because yours didn't get copied. Make sure to preview the message before posting. Sometime you need to hit the delete key on some of the lines in the tracert.
Do a tracert to dslreports and google. |

1 edit | reply to wikkedwhite i really wish there was a sticky about interleave and what to post if you think you have abnormal latency.
**edit**
If you think you have abnormal latency, we need to know
1. A trace route 2. How are you connected, wireless or wired. 3. top level overview of you network (pc's, tvs, other devices) 4. When you see the latency (specific activities going on when you notice issue, like torrents, watching tv, etc) 5. Speed tier 6. RG stats. |

It takes us 16 hops just to get to Atlanta (approx). |

| reply to ShadezeRO said by ShadezeRO :It takes us 16 hops just to get to Atlanta (approx). Number of hops isn't really as much a concern as number of AS networks traversed to the destination. 25 hops traversing two AS networks could be better than 15 hops traversing three AS networks.
For counting AS networks, 12.0.0.0/8 (AT&T Worldnet Services) counts as different (AS 7018) than 68.152.0.0/13 IP addresses (AS 6389). -- Norman ~Oh Lord, why have you come ~To Konnyu, with the Lion and the Drum |

1 edit | That has less to do with the number of hops than other network issues. One possibility as an asymmetric return path. Routing is determined by the BGP algorithms of the destination. So it is entirely possible for there to be a worse return path, that you can't see, than the forward path, which you can see. |
