A pain in the a$$ to say the least. Why am I forced to sign up for a Cox.net e-mail account, (which I will never use for e-mail purposes) in order to sign into my Cox account? |

You should be able to use any email address for your billing account. We have many customers who don't have internet service with us, but do have video service.
What happened when you tried to create an account with your non-cox.net address? |

| Manage/view my account. It wouldn't let me log on. I called Tech Support and they said I needed to have a cox.net account to log in (and now I log in with jxxxxxl@cox.net) to access my account. -- "I have measured out my life with coffee spoons..." - T.S Eliot "I have often regretted my speech, never my silence." - Publilius Syrus Ma blog: »www.johndball.com |

Dave And I used my @johndball.com address before as well, but the next time I attempted to log in I was redirected to a support page stating that Cox was changing their system and I would need to log in with an @cox.net e-mail account. It didn't ask for any usernames or passwords (granted I wouldn't have put any in anyway). -- "I have measured out my life with coffee spoons..." - T.S Eliot "I have often regretted my speech, never my silence." - Publilius Syrus Ma blog: »www.johndball.com |

| cox's email should be an option, they should ask for a working email addy though. they are better off working on getting the rest of us the D3 option and if it's worth it, i may get it.
with so many email options available, an ISP's email is just target for dictionary attacks |

Rob you already said you want D3, but don't want the high prices. |

| reply to exocet_cm I was irritated at the cox.net email address requirement change also, it almost irritated me as much as the price of the service and the stuttering HDTV service. My old cox.net account was cutoff and I have not re-signed up. Now I just pay my bill via my bank. |

| reply to exocet_cm A couple of things here...
The driver behind this was a more integrated experience. We would get a lot of questions about why there were different log-ins for email and bill-pay. Now it all works together as one seamless namespace.
There are some security benefits over the old view-pay bill, e-commerce method. Specifically, we couldn't control or identify if Fred R with fred@email.com address was still Fred R. Now with User ID's tied to accounts, we can manage that better.
You are NOT being required to use your Cox.net email. You are being asked to choose a user name that is unique within that namespace. If you already have one, you get the benefit of seamless transition between all of your online services. You can go from Phone Tools to View Your Bill to Email all in one session. Unfortunately, we could not reconcile the two databases efficiently, so we had to ask some subscribers to do a one time re-registration. If that is an inconvienence, we're sorry.
If you don't have CHSI and later add it, you keep that existing username and it becomes one of your email addresses (should you choose to use it). We're also looking at some additional changes in the future, but we don't talk about those here in advance (grin).
Finally, believe it or not, we do have more than one group that works on projects. So, we have not taken away resources from DOCSIS 3 launches or answering phone calls to do that. (grin again)
If you have more questions about this, I believe there are some FAQ's on the support site. -- Want the most out of BBR? Visit our help page: »members.cox.net/coxengr/bbr_help Are you a Cox employee? Please read this before posting: »members.cox.net/coxengr/bbr_cox |

| said by ajwees41 :Jim is there a way to tie the secondary email addresses to the bill view/pay? Right now the secondary user id (not necessarily an email address) can pay the bill but not view the bill. A future release is targeted to add that and other abilities for the primary user ID to delegate authority. |
