Re: ok never, EVER sign a contract if you don't HAVE to. They may offer you a lower rate to be on-contract, but it takes away your bargaining power. Take the hit on the higher monthly price up-front, and then call in 2 months later saying you're going to switch. You'll get a much better deal, and not be on contract.
