AT&T U-Verse is king for haggling a lower bill

I had the U300 TV and Max Internet plan, regularly about $150/month total: $79/month + $55/month internet + $5 additional set top box + $10 HD fee.

One 3 minute call netted me 40$ off the TV portion and $10 off the internet portion for 6 months! $300 savings! And that was ontop of the $200 in rebates I already got when I signed up.

You just have to get to retentions and that usually involves saying something about canceling. I said, "I'm considering going back to Time Warner but before I do I wanted to find out if you have any promotions that might lower my bill". I think some people make the mistake of simply asking to be disconnected, and they might call your bluff.

Time Warner, on the other hand, wasn't willing to do very much for me. The best they could offer was the current new customer promotion which wasn't any different from what I was paying, and I really was calling to completely cancel that service as I already had an U-verse installed.

This article should be adjusted to address TWC's lack of cooperation and care.
