The more customers they have, the more revenue they make, and the more profit they make. If they weren't making money off their customers they wouldn't be in the business of subsidizing and selling iPhones.
People abandoning dry-line DSL would abandon them whether or not AT&T's wireless sector existed or not.
And for the record, the iPhone deal has been hugely profitable for AT&T.
Really? Here's the bottom line: "AT&Ts operating margin in wireless declined to 23.8 percent, from 25.5 percent a year ago." Operating margin is also a magic trick by accountants.
