clum join:2001-08-04 San Jose, CA | $200 surprise cancelation fee! Well Megapath has officially gone downhill in my mind. I've been a customer with them for years and never had any problems. Then I went and canceled after I switched to cable and figured that would be that. Imagine my surprise when I got charged an early $200 cancelation fee! What early cancelation? I've been a customer for years!
What happened was that a sales rep called me around september last year and said that she could get me a faster speed, or the same speed for a lower cost. I agreed to a faster speed. She said nothing about a year contract, or an early cancelation fee. Well I ended up with the same speed since it turned out that my line couldn't manage the faster speed. OK, I can deal with that.
Backup to now, I've called them a few times to contest the early termination fee and left messages, but they tell me that the only person that can take care of it is my sales rep who never seems to be in. They also never calll me back. I finally posted a trouble ticket and look at my reply.
" When you received the new priceing you agreed to a 12 mont term. Since you cancelled the service before this 12 months was commplete yiu have been acessed an early terminatin fee. "
Yes, they can't spell!!! Must be outsourced. Definitely not professional. Should I keep complaining, or just tell the Better Business Bureau about this? I'm sure if I ever got ahold of someone, they probably just said that I should have known about it through the fine print that I never read. Also, I wanted to cancel by phone but they said I had to cancel in writing. That way, no one can tell you that there is a cancelation fee. |
