How would we be able to broadcast live video to multiple tvs

My friend and his wife are getting ready to open up a tech oriented preschool for the 2010 year. I have been asked to research various tech related aspects.

How would we be able to broadcast live video content, from a professional quality video camera, to multiple ( minimum of 10 ) TVs located in various rooms of an 8,000 sq ft building?

I would greatly appreciate any help that can be given on what equipment should be bought, links to reference sites or any general help in this area.

Thanks

Modulate the video and audio to standard TV channels and distribute that signal to the sets on coax.

I appreciate the info but we would prefer to buy the equipment new.

In my research through Google the term "TV over Cat5/5e" has popped up numerous times. This sounds like it would work for us. Is anyone familiar with this technology. I assume you would need some type of video box/splitter to receive the camera feed then it would output that one signal to the multiple tvs.

We would like to broadcast school announcements, upcoming events and such to 32-37 inch tvs located throughout the school.

Well if you had taken the time to enter the name Blonder-Tongue into a search engine you wuld have found they make and sell brand new exactally what you need.

But if you want to re-invent the wheel then go CAT5 or whatever.

I take it you have no experence in MATV or CATV?

Sorry. It didn't even occur to me to search for that. I will add that to my list to look into.

No I do not have any experience in MATV or CATV.

I suggest you hire an AV professional that does.

Yes, it does seem like the way to go.

Are they using pre-existing buildings or are they building this from scratch? There are a ton of different things you can do to shift the audio/video over the whole building.

If you are wanting to do cat 5 for the video their are HDTV or high quality video options, they will cost some decent money if you want to have it over the ethernet. For example the company I work for sells Crestron products and we use »www.crestron.com/products/show_p···-pvid8x3
that product on some sites. They will need to get one main unit then put receivers in each room that will pull the video in and decode it.
That will let you go about 750ft over Cat5 if you use it.

You have to keep in mind whatever you go with if you are hauling video a long way you will need amplifiers or some way to boost that signal because over massive distances it will degrade and look horrible. The owners will have to take that into account when they are trying to find a decent system. Other options might be using computers in each room and having them do some of the processing for the video and finding programs that might support video broadcasting. Don't know of that roue will be cheaper than going with a Crestron type unit. Lots of options to look at.

They will be using a pre existing building and remodel it if necessary.

Thanks for the info.
