I'm on a 2wire 2701HG-D with Current Firmware Version: QT04-6.1.5.48 (the new update)
Maximum number of sessions: 1024
Did this exist before and I never really noticed because it wasn't something accessible from the first page? |

| Yes, it was there before but in the MDC. Unless, it's in an editable box, it's something Qwest has locked down.
The only reason you may need to change that setting is if you are using something like BitTorrent and you are hosting a bunch of files being accessed, you are crusing to a gawd awful amount of web pages, or you're being hit by a Blaster style virus (in which case, you have bigger problems than just a moden setting )
Hope this helps... |

| Another reason for high max sessions: Internet game server scanning. For example scanning for a Counter Strike or Team Fortress server to play on will create a HUGE number of sessions (I've had it consume all 4000 available sessions on my previous router). -- I'm not a tax dodger, I'm a potential cabinet appointee! |

| reply to CTS_AE Well yes, torrents will fill that quota instantly which is why I started freaking out about it in the first place. Yes I love to play CS:S. I even run my own CS:S server from my house wich means more connects as well.
My father doesn't know how to close tabs so if you ever look at the computer he's using it's got like litterly 60 tabs open, not even a joke there, which is depressing because there's surely ads on more than half of those pages that are consuming bandwidth.
So ideally you'd only want so many computers on your network : \. |
