Velcom + Ottawa + Increasing Speeds?

Hey guys, I am from Ottawa, On.

This is the screenshot from OrbMT.

It is showing that I have a max attainable datarate at 3.4 Mb/s and 762 kb/s. Whereas, my current download is 1.1 Mb/s and upload of 640 kb/s.

This is what it shows on my modem (TD-8816):
Downstream/Upstream
SNR Margin : 23.5/ 9.0 db
Line Attenuation : 63.5/ 31.5 db
Data Rate : 1184/ 640 kbps

Is there anything I can do to boost my speeds prior to calling anyone?
It is not that I am not happy with the service for 30 bucks... but if there is anything I can do to try and boost my speed?

Thanks

You should ask to be put on 3008/512 Kbps Interleaved or similar.

It seems like to me that the profile was set like that because that's about the maximum speed that some people get on a line with that high of a signal loss/attenuation rate. Howver, your line appears to be in incredible condition for that long of a local wiring loop. For Bell to have you set to ~1Mbps with a line that is capable of much more, that's a pretty bad pratical joke on their part.

Call Velcom and ask them to bump up your speed.
