| Signal Issues
For the past two years I have been operating my Sprint card from my home with an average 80% signal. Now I am having some confusing signal problems. My curent setup is a 598U card connected to an outdoor truckers antenna at the peak of my roof. Now when I connect to smartview without my outside antenna connected, I get a 40% 1RXTT signal, and once I contect my outdor antenna the signal jumps to 80% EVDO A. Now here is the confusing part, once it hits that 80% it all of a sudden drops to 20%-40% EVDO A and stays there. What do you think? |

| reply to Gman68 Don't hold me to this but I think the truckers antenna is one of those that require a 'ground plane' like a pie plate or some other metal surface underneath the base in order to operate correctly. Max Signal would know the answer to this. So if you do need a ground plane, putting the antenna on the peak of the roof might not be the ideal setup. -- Sierra 598U/Cradlepoint CTR500, grid antenna, Millenicom, 4 XPPro and 1 Ubuntu units, FireFox everywhere. |

Max Signal Premium join:2008-03-07 Buffalo, NY | Trucker antenna should not require a ground plane . Most have built in ground plane. Like I said check cables and connectors . Then consider a good amplifier. Especially if you have a long cable run. -- www.MaximumSignal.Net |

@spcsdns.net | reply to Gman68 Thanks for the help and did check my cables and all seem to be working fine. And I agree with you, am looking into an amplifier. Another thing that I noticed lately is that my card is getting very hot to the touch??? |

| reply to Jack_in_VA Good amplifier antenna kit will give your card a good signal so it does not have to work hard to get a signal and heat up . Here is a link to Jim's Cyfre Amplifier/Antenna review

| reply to Gman68 Have been working with Sprint on this issue and was sent a new card with the same results. I contacted tech spport again with this problem and worked with them to accomplish a multiple of resets. They told me to wait 24 hours and report back my findings, and its a miricle!!! Just about 24 hours later, I now have 100% signal and my down speed is 1.4 and up speed is 3.6!!!! Tested it on speedtest a few times with the same results. This is great, anyone know why my upload is so high? |
