I just wanted to post and say that I have been pretty impressed with CableOne recently. Like a year ago they bumped the 5 meg service to 8 meg without a price change. Now they bumped the 8 meg to 10 and doubled the upload speed while lowering the price $10.
In my area CableOne IS the internet if you want a fast connection. Yet they continue to improve service and even lower their price, when if they did the opposite and gave less for more it is unlikely they would lose customers (at least in this area). Additionally, I always get my quoted speeds, the connection is fast and lag free with 99% up time in my experience, and the caps, while annoying sometimes, are acceptable to me, especially compared to some other providers.
For example I used to have Comcast before I moved, and the service there suffered from slower than quoted speeds, lag spikes during peak times, now they have caps that are monthly total rather than just peak hours. I never thought I would say this, but I am pretty happy to have CableOne. Sure, if I could get FIOS or something I would jump on it. But as far as fast cable connections go I have had a good experience with CableOne and feel their rules really are fair and benefit all users, rather than being arbitrary for the purposes of profit increase like at Comcast. |

Overall I'm satisfied w/ CableOne, but they definitely have their faults. |

I agree. I wish they'd go with Comcast's 250 GB cap setup style. It's annoying and it seems unnecessary having to tally up how much you download between 12 pm - 12 am. The only net meter I can find ONLY keeps track of how much you download in a 24-hour day.
They have a great service. Always online unless down due to a severe storm. It beats the heck out of the DSL I had. Even the technicians were more knowledgeable (and had a MUCH better sense of humor.) -- ISP: CableOne 3 mbit/300 kbit |

1 edit | reply to YodaGoneMad Have you tried NetMeter, by Readerror i been using version 1.1.3 with very good results. It shows projected, daily, weekly and monthly reports. So far been with in 500MB of the meter cableone uses on there site. Only time its been off by more was when i had family here using personally laptops on my wireless haven't figured a way to track that besides using my router logs.

| reply to YodaGoneMad Overall I'm not impressed with CableOne. I liked Comcast a lot better when I had them. Their 250GB monthly soft cap would be much more preferable to the 2.2 GB daily cap. Plus in a lot of areas they are upgrading all their customers to DOCSIS 3.0 where their LOWEST tier is 12/2 mbps.
The only thing that I think they do well is network uptime. I've probably only been down for about 24 total hours in the last 2 years. That is impressive but their level of internet service and price leave a fair amount to be desired.
I'm looking at signing up for Qwest 12 mpbs service so that I can get away from these daily caps and pay less to boot.
//Would signup for FIOS or FTTH and pay them several hundred dollars as a startup fee, if I had the option... |
