Watch this YouTube video and you will see Dan Borislow enter the shot at about the 43 second mark. He appears out of shape and is missing the glint of winning energy in his eyes.
The result of too much Magicjacking.

It drains vital bodily fluids.

Re: netTalk tk6000

I have had 2 TK6000's now and both have a very loud hum on the single line phone I want to use with them. No solution found to resolve this from there tech group. The last one they want me to send back to corporate so they can see this problem. If I hold the unit in my hand the hum goes completely away.
Anyone else have this problem?

Sounds like the unit's sitting in a pretty strong AC magnetic field. Could you try moving it to a different room (use a long Ethernet cable) and see if the problem goes away?

Here is a link to a comment reportedly made by Dan Borislow about the competition netTalk from a recent interview he did with Laptop Magazine as reported Engadget.com.

Dan Borislow said "It's a piece of shit. It has static. The call quality is pathetic. There's no phone numbers available, and it's run by a bunch of fly-by-nights with no assets. They'll be bankrupt soon. We're a real company with the best network and best software."

I found the link above along with the quoted text below which is funny reading and viewing together.

Quote
I love CEO spats. A few days ago the MagicJack CEO, Dan Borislow (Shown above at his party at CES. Seriously. It was just like that.) was talking about his femtocell and was all like:

I’m sure you’ve heard of netTALK, the new magicJack rival. Any opinions on the device?
It’s a piece of sh*t. It has static. The call quality is pathetic. There’s no phone numbers available, and it’s run by a bunch of fly-by-nights with no assets. They’ll be bankrupt soon. We’re a real company with the best network and best software.

BAM! TWO HITS! I HIT YOU, YOU HIT THE GROUND.

So anyway, netTALK is now all like:

We, at netTALK, would like to respond to the comments made about our company and our product, the TK6000, as of late. Contrary to comments made, our company is founded and run by a staff of seasoned executives with decades of experience who firmly attests to and stands behind the high quality of netTALK’s policies, customer service practices, network and product development activities. Unlike others on the market, the TK6000 works independent of a computer, offering more convenience, flexibility and functionality to the end user – not to mention cost and energy savings. Because the TK6000 is flexible enough to not require the use of a fully powered computer to make and receive calls like other units, our customers are able to save time, energy and money. We developed the TK6000 by reviewing the current leading products in the category and focusing on the best attributes from each, resulting in a product we, and our loyal customers, feel is a best-of-all-worlds communication device.

BOOM! BACK ATCHA!

Anyway, MagicJack is good for folks who don’t know how to use Skype and, presumably, netTALK is the same stuff. Both are good for your grandma who doesn’t know VoIP from Vincent Price. But it’s nice to see that netTALK took the high road.

I decided to order the tk6000. Took about 2 weeks to arrive from placing the order to its arrival. It was packed in a nice looking box. The dongle looks identical to magicjack with the execption of having a LAN connector.

The registration information is printed on the bottom of the dongle. I tried register online but when get to choosing a phone number, I could not locate one with a 408 area code. I immidiately created a tech support ticket online and to my suprised, the tech responded back in less than 3 minutes and said he can create me a 408 area code in the system and added my MAC address. In less than 10 minutes, my NetTalk TK6000 is up and running. Tried few calls, the voice quality is exceptional and sounded even clearer than my regular landline. The next day, I cancelled my landline. The $99 lifetime is a good deal. I will even pay $19 a year if that's what needs to keep this company to stay in business. Go dump your magicJack, you don't need a dedicated computer to use the phone. I perosnally belive MagicJack is a joke when you can use Skype softphone.

No mention of the $20/year cost?

Not much to spend really but ut's certainly not "lifetime for free" as the NT ads promote.

I have had my tk6000 for about 2 weeks now and I'm impressed with the quality so far. I also have MJ and comparing the two TK looks like it's going to be the winner in the end. The call quality is just as good if not better than MJ but not as good as callcentric imho. Setup is easy I did need to call customer service as the device did not display my caller id but they quickly fixed that on their end. They did have me put the TK in the DMZ mode on my router so they could have an easier time communicating with the device. The stutter/garble problem seems to be a thing of the past but 11 digit dialing is a little annoying if you forget about it. The only other small thing I have noticed is the star button does not seem to put through the proper tone for use with automated systems but overall it has worked well for me.

Just want to know if there are any updates ( from users) to Nettalks service its been 3 months since the last post im rather interested in the device and service especially since it can fax. As at IT tech myself I love fooling with stand alone VOIP devices just to let you know(I hate mjacks USB only connection). Ive been watching it for a while and debating if I should drop one of my Mjacks at the end of the year and get this. However upon going to the website recently I noticed there is no way to order one it constantly says back order ( for the last 2 weeks). So for those still using it hows the current service treating you?

The service works well and the company is consistently improving all aspects of the users experience. If I have time I will try to compose a detailed review.

They have indeed recently upgraded their network. You can still order them from tk6000.com. It's not a bad deal for $99 you can get the lifetime plan while they are continuing to offer it. I have now unplugged my MJ and use my TK along with Sipgate and Callcentric on my Pap2 now.

Indeed nice to know its still giong strong this it the alternative over going to Oomo. and Im quite ready to give it a try now. Anyone want comment on how well the device reacts with multiple phones connected to one line, anyone reach a phone limit? ( like Mjack in my house can only support 3 dedicated phones max at a time) any more than that and no phones ring. I dont plan on having to upgrade to a expandable phone system, I hate those things.

I found this thread since I'm looking to buy one of these devices or something similar. What concerns me is the buckets of red ink I saw when I looked at the financials of Nettalk:
»finance.yahoo.com/q/is?s=ntlk.ob

Net Income From Continuing Ops
Mar 31, 2010: (12,909)
Dec 31, 2009: (2,140)
Sep 30, 2009: (1,168)
Jun 30, 2009: (790)

Gross Profit
Mar 31, 2010: (81)
Dec 31, 2009: (148)
Sep 30, 2009: (3)
Jun 30, 2009: -

(The parens mean it is a negative number, and the numbers are in thousands)

It looks to me like they won't be around much longer with numbers like those.

Depends on how much more money the backers/investors want to put into it.

See this other thread:
» netTalk will no longer offer lifetime to new customers

So I don't think you could get their lifetime plan anyway at this point.

Look, month-to-month plans have minimal risk, yearly plans have definite risk, and "lifetime" plans are an act of religious faith.

I'd never buy a "lifetime" plan, but ESPECIALLY not unless the financials were absolutely solid.

And frankly, companies with solid financials are very, very rare these days.

At first look this is a very attractive device/service.
No computer needed, big advantage over MJ.
I should mention I'm a happy MJ user.
So I checked it out, half the websites pages don't work and some are even blocked by malwarebytes, not good and I couldn't even try and order one, I know "out of stock" thats not good either. Too bad, it's an excellent idea for a device and I hope MJ takes a cue but I'd like to feel a bit better about the company and actually be able to get one.

Best Wishes
