Re: netTalk tk6000

If the company is registered in Fl they have to register with the state and list the principals. It is not always easy to navigate but you can. It is under the FL Secretary of State, Department of State, Division of Corporation, Sunbiz.org

This may be the search you guys were referring to at the beginning of the thread.

I wonder if it's really easy (cheap) to get CLEC status in FL or something. There seem to be a LOT of small operators there. I guess so far it's the only place where MagicJack 2.0 managed to get CLEC status?

I ordered it. When it arrives, I'll try it out immediately...and if it doesn't work better than MJ, I will return it quickly... If anyone on this forum is interested in how TK6000 performs for avg consumer, I will gladly post my experience. Just please let me know you are interested.
This thread is now 6 days old (opened July 27) and the only poster who reported experience with NewTalk's product --- until truConsumer posted his/her intentions --- was an anonymous individual who appeared out of nowhere on the same day (July 27). Nobody else in this very popular BBR Forum has posted any experience with NT.

I, for one, will be most curious to read truConsumer's upcoming post upon receiving the NT device and initiating service. I would ask that truConsumer confirm our suspicions that the only phone numbers (DIDs) available from NT at this point begin with 786-289-xxxx in the Miami area rate center.

Everyone can "remember" how to "keep this pair straight" by... knowing what the damn words mean! Their meanings aren't even close to one another, so mistaking one for the other should be no more likely than mistaking "brake" for "break" or "past" for "passed". In other words, if you're that stupid or careless there's no hope.
Exactly. People who need to memorize goofy rules to spell simple words lack a firm grasp of the language and won't ever get one.

I wonder if this company is somehow related to Tiger Direct. The reason being that at the very bottom of their page, it mentions "As Seen On TV", and I've read some time ago they were owned by Tiger Direct. Don't know for sure, hope not though.

Magic Jack/ymax is located in West Palm Beach. 2 addresses I found were: 223 Sunset Avenue, Suite 223, Palm Beach, FL 33480 and P.O. Box 6846, West Palm Beach, FL. (Bernie's backyard?). Cust. Service confirmed.

Re: netTalk tk6000 - Nothing more than a proprietary ATA box

Forgive me for noticing, but it seems nothing more than a proprietary ATA box.

I've read the PAP2T can Direct Dial IP addresses too, so using something with it, like Asterisk FreePBX, one could do the very same thing, if you purchased a bunch of DIDs...!

or something FREE, like ...

--> start your own phone service... Free InterNET InterCOM,
not even needing any VoIP provider, unless you need to call an outdated Land Line.

I'm wondering if it's time to start this between everyone with Broadband Internet and their own ATA.

Not just Intra-Office of the router IP base, but over the full Internet ... world wide.

If the PAP2T can Directly Dial an IP address, you wouldn't even need the computer, much like this tk6000, and could put the IP to call into "speed-dialing" of the PAP2T.

Does anyone know the exact method to entering the address, and how to setup the router/ATA?

This could be our own competition to the VoIP industry, showing them we may not even need them in the near future.!

Hope this helps, also people are posting some reviews (good and bad) on the NetTALK official forum.

I bought one then returned it. I have filed a complaint on the FCC about NetTalk and their TK6000. The product is a barebones device that does not even support half of the features listed right on the box and on the website.

-No Voicemail (much less voice email)
-No Conference Calling
-No Call Waiting
-A place to input speed dial contacts, but no way to use the speed dial
-I hope you don't mind geting a personal number that is "near" your area code. Only a few states away, but hey, it's in the same country.

-The tech team has no timeline as to when the above features will be added to the TK6000.

I would wait a long time before buying one. Wait until a retail store is willing to risk buying one. At least you will not have to wait two weeks to get one and another two weeks to get your money back.

Hey guys, I found this topic in a Google search and thought I might answer a few of your questions:

1. netTALK has nothing to do with magicJack. Nothing at all. The company may be from the same geographic location, but the similarities end there - magicJack is a reseller of another VOIP carrier, netTALK owns 100% of its own equipment and is a true CLEC.

2. The company itself was incorporated a few years ago and is about to be a public company - it's being accomplished through a reverse merger (that's the Discover Screens connection). The product has been in development for some time.

3. The TK6000 is a true SIP device, so the service is more like Vonage than magicJack. magicJack is simply a cheap audio device that works with a soft phone. With netTALK there is NO SOFTWARE to install on your PC - you just plug it into your Ethernet port and start dialing. You can use it through the USB port like magicJack if you don't have a spare ethernet port, but there is still no software to install, it detects as a network device, bridges the connection to your existing network card, and gets to the Internet to make the calls through there.

4. The website is relatively new, an infomercial is being tested right now. I don't particularly care for the direct response model but whatever.

5. The $99 price is for the device, not the service - the local & long distance service for 3 years just happens to be included at no charge. Remember, this is a public company but if that doesn't quell any concerns of whether or not they'll be around or not just keep in mind that this is not proprietary software - it's a true SIP device that uses standard VOIP protocols, so it could technically be configured to work with pretty much any VOIP carrier.

MJ is a reseller of another voip carrier: FALSE

If you really want to know what TK6000/netTALK is all about, you should research "Interlink Global" and "Anastasios Kyriakides". Kyriakides is CEO of netTALK and was CEO of now defunct Interlink Global. Interlink Global, founded in 2002, had a lot of VOIP/telecommunications history you can read about on the net. Apparently, TK6000/netTALK was/is simply an extension/expansion of what they already did with a new device.

The link below provides pretty up to date info about netTALK.com, it's previous life as Interlink Global, and it's current finances and plans:

»biz.yahoo.com/e/090731/138382510-q.html

Apparently, Interlink Global's creditors seized it's assets which were then sold to an advertising company that took the name of one of Interlink's subsidiaries, netTALK, and is proceeding with Interlink's plan to promote the TK6000. Interesting story and interesting reading.

Tons of reading here: »www.secinfo.com/d14D5a.s3F9j.htm#5gul

History of the company, who they contract with to make the TK6000, their plans to begin serious marketing of their product in the next month, they are a CLEC in 25 states, etc.

yes I purchased One. Received in about 3 days. I just plugged the device it into my router and plugged the phone into the device. works fine so far.
Can we ban anonymous posters who practice to deceive ... blatantly?!

The above referenced post near the beginning of this thread was painfully misleading. The posting date was July 27, 2009 ... yet all online info at the NANPA site and the localcallingguide.com website indicates that the only rate center assigned to Net Talk --- 786-289-xxxx in North Dade FL --- will not be activated until tomorrow August 23!!

Wow ... what a dishonorable reputation NT will acquire, given the evidence that newpup most certainly is a NT shill!

Keep in mind that Net Talk has been seeking approval to operate as a CLEC in scores of states throughout the US ... meaning that, just like MagicJack/YMAX ... Net Talk intends to be all things to all people which, according to Abraham Lincoln, is tough to do: You can fool all of the people...] Googling reveals a host of pending Net Talk applications to Telecommunications/Public Utility Commissions throughout the US.
Your post is representative of a problem with this board generally ... anytime something innovative and different rolls along ... just about every pundit on this forum suffers what I consider "post sunrocket stress syndrome" which is a variant of PTSD.

Obviously this is a company preparing to go nationwide with a new and innovative product. It plans to be a national CLEC. It's ducks don't currently seem all in a row at this time. As with most companies it doesn't broadcast it's entire business plan, provide blueprints, engineering diagrams and copies of its proprietary software. Somehow failure to provide all these things is taken as a hostile act by many VOIP tech forum pundits.

I wish you guys would calm down a bit. Lets see what happens. This may be interesting, it may bomb, at least it'll be a worthwhile experience for us all.

IMO what bothers many is the relatively high up-front charge, and the long term "free" service which supposedly will follow. I counted less than 2 dozen posts before Ponzi was used in this thread.

Guys, take it easy. Not every new innovation is Sunrocket II, not every company is creating a Ponzi scheme.
