| "I'm sorry Dave..."
So, I've been using Comodo Firewall Pro v2.XX on XP Pro since the end of 2006 without a single problem. That is until this morning when the app went all HAL 9000 on me.
When I tried to install an MVPS hosts update, I discovered that cmdagent.exe, part of Comodo, had locked the hosts file and refused to turn it loose. I got that problem solved, but in the meantime the damned program got a hold of Outlook and blocked both in and outward bound mail. I didn't have time to screw around with that, so I decided to uninstall Comodo while my other mail client still worked.
The uninstall fixed Outlook, but I'm wondering WTF the major malfunction was that caused Comodo to start acting so strangely. Personally, I think it's some kind of karmic payback because I took a three-day weekend. -- Pain is weakness leaving the body |

| Thanks for the reply's, guys.
The system was not shut down over the long weekend. The last boot before that was around two to four weeks ago. No new apps installed, but lots of updates -- Firefox, virus definitions, etc.
I haven't bothered to try to ask Comodo. I liked the program, but now it's off my system and it ain't coming back.
Actually, if fixing it hadn't cut into my time, I would have thought it kind of amusing. -- Pain is weakness leaving the body |
