Gee, of course a competitor doesn't want to hire a workforce. Therein lies a problem with the CLECs. If they'd started building out their infrastructure, we might not have some of the competitive issues that people complain about today.

Copper is on its way back up, but it's still not where it was a couple of years ago. Abandoning the copper in place is probably more profitable to VZ right now considering the current copper prices.
