I've come to the conclusion...

.. that AT&T knows they are going to lose the iPhone in 2010 to Verizon, and rather than work on keeping the exclusivity, they are working to milk it for every penny they can while they can.

P.S. I'm happy with my iPhone/AT&T service, but I'm not happy when I see Apple (possibly AT&T) telling me what apps I can or cannot use (unless I jailbreak).

Don't need app to use Google Voice on iPhone

Anyone with Google Voice can use all the Google Voice capabilities on the iPhone without the special iPhone app. All you have to do is go to the Google Voice web page with the browser on the iPhone.

The app would make it easier and slicker, but it isn't needed. So AT&T can't block the free SMS capabilities of Google Voice.

I have the Palm Pre and I don't need an app(and there isn't one yet anyway) to use the Google Voice functions.

The problem is that it isn't possible to use Push, unless Google figures out some loophole.

Either way, unless Apple does something fast, I'm dropping my AT&T service and the iPhone when my contract is up. I'll go to Sprint if they have an Android phone by then. It'll cost less than what I'm paying right now for Sprint's Simply Everything plan.
