Cablevision will be rolling out a web based DVR management portal on the optimum.net home page, tentatively August 6th. You will be able to add/edit/remove scheduled recordings, and you will also be able to delete content that is already recorded on your DVR(s).
Enjoy. |

| reply to CVTech Do you think that by then the DVR itself will be fixed? Meaning that it won't miss or drop scheduled recordings that are made directly on the box?
Typical.....CV decides to roll out new features (not that this is not a GOOD feature) before they fix basic functionality of what's already out there. |

| don't know what you're talking about. my dvr works fine
only time a show isnt being recorded is if you scheduled 2 other shows during that time or if a previously set show is now suddenly scheduled to go over its time slot, thus not allowing another show to begin recording
but thats all about time conflict management, which is difficult b/c any given week things can change and the software won't know about it until the week comes up |

@optonline.net | Well, I'm happy for you that your DVR works as it is supposed to. Unfortunately, that is not that case for me nor is it true for many other paying customers. |

| reply to CVTech Getting back to the original topic, you guys will love that service when it rolls out.
FiOS TV has it. It's not only great for adding a show you hear about when you're away from home, I find the web based feature is much better than the on screen tool to manage our DVR even while at home. |

This sounds like the feature that already exists on one of the satellite services. They have at least two commercials for it. One has a bank robbery in progress where one of the hostages uses his cell phone to schedule a recording and the other has a SWAT Team with a "Planet of the Apes" SWAT Commander (or something on that order) doing the same since the stand-off will not be over before the show airs. |

| reply to RARPSL Yep....I forgot about that ad.
With FiOS's feature they have an actual application that will work with Verizon cell phones. But they also have a WPA feature that works pretty well on my AT&T Blackberry.
My wife and I were airlining out to the Coast a couple of weeks ago. She was reading USA Today and saw a new series advertised that she was interested in. I fired up my laptop with Virgin America's wifi service and scheduled the series to record right then from 36,000 feet.
Pretty cool |

just make it mobile web accessible, so real users of technology can access it rather than sheep. |

@cablevision.com | reply to CVTech Just as an FYI, there is no actual app that will be usable on mobile devices, but the intent is to make sure the webapp is mobile-browser compatible. |

I just wish the optimum web mail would store passwords for more than 8 hours....so annoying typing it in each time. |

| reply to CVTech Just a question:
optimum.net How would that work anyway? Wouldn't you have to optimum online service (with email, etc..) to work it. What if you only have the tv service? Sure anyone can use site. But it seems to be for optimum online users interface.
I also have read ZERO news about this from anywhere. The closest thing I've seen is the ROLLING out of the network dvr talk.
Maybe the option will only be for that service and not the regular set top dvr box. |

| reply to CVTech This sounds great! Can't wait to try it out. I often use the guide in my SLingBox from my laptop on the couch because the guide in the SA8300 is so cumbersome to use. I suspect that the guide and dvr control will be much quicker done remotely from the web. -- steevo J-E-T-S JETS! JETS!! JETS!!! |

@optonline.net | reply to CVTech I hope they add the ability to reboot the box or force guide data to reload via the internet as well. |
