Why do u need a specific app? with the iphone you can add the web app to the homescreen of the iphone. no application from the app store needed.

screw "iphone" apps

just make it mobile web accessible, so real users of technology can access it rather than sheep.
The website as it is now is mobile accessible.

U don't understand a website developed with the iPhone in mind can function just like an app from the app store but be web based. You go to it via safari then add it to home scren via favorites. From there on it would work just like an app would

i think people are just too lazy and are too "app happy". an extra click or touch for some people is just so hard to do...

You can create an optimum.net account without having Optimum Online.

hopefully they'll let you assign certain boxes to subaccounts, for when you have multiple dvrs.

Don't you need to create an optonline.net account for billing purposes?

Not if you get paper bills still, but anybody with a CV account can create an optimum.net login using their account number. No OOL sub required.

It's true. We got the memo last week. The options to search for programming and schedule your DVR recordings through optimum.net.
That's it.

To many people that are having dvr issues. I wonder how many ever reboot their boxes...

Ha in the Wanaque/Ringwood/Pompton Lakes area in NJ our boxes reboot automatically every couple days having to unplug the boxes for about an hour and then replugging it in, in hopes it comes back up.

Cablevision will be rolling out a web based DVR management portal on the optimum.net home page,
I'm not too familiar with the CV DVR boxes (I have a crappy SA 4200 HD box on one of my HDTVs), but there hasn't been an option for this? I'm pretty surprised since TiVo has had it for years. I'm not too familiar with the CV boxes, but how well does YouTube, podcast audio streaming, video podcast downloads (Diggnation, Tekzilla, Cnet, etc), Picasa, Photobucket, Music Choice VOD internet streams, Amazon video (both HD and non-HD content) Disney video library and Netflix work on it?

How well does it do off-loading of video in a variety of formats onto PCs, portable media players, etc. I assume Cisco/SA and Cablevision provides software for that (for both Macs and PCs), right? What about widgets? What platform does it use for them (e.g. Yahoo and user-developed ones are used on the TiVo for example). How good is the searching? Does it give a library view with related web content links?

Just wondering how the CV ranks by comparison.

How the CV boxes rank? On a scale of 1-10, it's like a -2. With the SA boxes, we're lucky if it powers on and you can change the channel. It has none of the features you list, nor can you off load it to anything (easily).

You probably forgot to ask about custom video podcasts by the ability to manually enter an RSS feed now -- Tivo just announced that ability today - »news.cnet.com/8301-17939_109-103···-1_3-0-5

What was the last thing Cablevision announced? Web scheduling? Was it even officially announced?

Funny how my $8.30 + $2.00 /month gets me an announcement from Tivo of some new feature nearly every month. What does the $9.95 + $6.50 for CV's DVR get people each month, besides a bill in the mail?
