yockTFTCPremium join:2000-11-21 Miamisburg, OH kudos:3 | It's Apple's Store. Blame Apple Why would you even speculate that AT&T has anything to do with this? If Apple removed it from their store, then Apple is responsible for that decision. Whether or not AT&T has any influence in the process is a moot point because the buck stops with the Apple.

 | Exactly.

It's the Apple App Store, not the AT&T App Store. This leaves Google in the position if they want this application on iPhones or iPod Touches to instruct users about jailbreaking. That I don't see happening since they're trying to have Google Voice appeal to the masses. |

As long as this is an exclusive AT&T phone, they have more input into what is in the iPhone store than Apple does.
That will probably continue when Verizon gets the phone too, because there will probably be separate stores for each carrier, and they will determine which apps their customers can have. -- Best of luck

Thank you, someone else also sees the light. Apple owns the app store. If AT&T came up to them and said "hey remove this app", Apple has every right to say "shove it where the sun don't shine". But, Apple doesn't do that (think slingbox and skype). But, if AT&T actually had a say in this? Who knows. |

But I'd bet a lot of money there are terms in there that lets AT&T have a veto over certain types of apps. So Apple, as you say can't tell AT&T to "shove it where the sun don't shine". -- My BLOG .. .. Internet News .. .. My Web Page |

 | That's Apple's fault, then, for agreeing to those contract terms. Sorry, they can't wiggle out of responsibility for this. I guess they're not so "pro-consumer" after all. |

 | Agreed. I've never bought into the Apple hype. Their stuff is pretty, but way overpriced for the functionality it delivers. They do have superb marketing, though. |

There has been no shortage of recent news items on this very website that demonstrate Apple's effective authority over AT&T with regards to their exclusivity agreement. In light of that opinion, to turn around and claim what this article claims is preposterous. -- Have more fun with your GPS. Geocaching.com |

Until we know the terms of the contact between AT&T and Apple, anything is basically speculation. |

 yockTFTCPremium join:2000-11-21 Miamisburg, OH kudos:3 | I didn't fail to care, I just don't. Really, it's that simple.
Apple is solely responsible for the decisions that affect the app store. If they made agreements with AT&T that have peripheral implications for that app store, that's Apple's fault, not AT&T. It was entirely within Apple's power to plan for such a possibility. -- Have more fun with your GPS. Geocaching.com |
