1 edit | Google could get around the SMS thing.... IM clients are allowed. So, if Google gives us the option to forward SMSes to IMs, they'll show up on the phone. That would be a nice feature to have when I'm sitting at my desk anyway. AIM is already "almost" a SMS substitute, the big problem being its hard for people to initiate IMs TO you. GV solves that problem.
They can send voicemail notification web links that way too. Not quite as nice as an official app, but it would send a nice middle finger to AT&T/Apple.
