After the 5-0 pounding that the US team took in the Gold Cup we get to turn around and face Mexico again in a World Cup Qualifier down at the Azteca. The USMNT has yet to win in that stadium but we should have a stronger team for the game. It would only be fair to return the favor right?
ESPN withdrew their bid to televise the match in the US after being asked for significantly higher than expected fees for the broadcast rights. Now it appears that NBC Universal will be making the English feed available on MUN2 to satellite and cable subscribers on the day of the match for free. Read for more details:

It would be nice if the feed is given some attention by cable providers. Fortunately, there is a local station that carries Telemundo on one of its digital sub channels, so I can grab it off the air directly. It was disappointing that ESPN was carrying the non-USA matches of the gold cup in HD while the US matches were defaulting to the Fox Soccer Channel which is only SD at my location. Ah well...

1 edit | Yeah rumor has it Fox Soccer Channel is supposed to be HD by the end of the year or so. Now if only I could get it without having to sign up for the other 50 odd Fox Sports channels, Speed, and the all underwater basket weaving channel package.

I'm going to the Toronto FC - Puerto Rico Islanders match today. It's a qualifier for the CONCACAF Champions League. I really really want to win this.

I have no problem rooting for another MLS team as long as the game has zero impact on the Sounders. So good luck against Puerto Rico and I hope we tear TFC to shreds on August 29th.

| Bummer deal. I heard it was a rough time for the MLS in the CCL.
Although I heard there was a bright spot. NYRB somehow managed to have the lead in a game for nearly 12 minutes, What a treat for their fans!

Heads up: Noticed on DirecTV this morning that a seperate channel for MUN2 has been setup just for this game. Had to change the DVR to reflect the channel that will be available for broadcast since we don't subscribe to MUN2.
