Re: [DSL] Help me tweak Verizon 7.1mbps/768 Download DrTcp
Set Tcp Receive Window to 63888
Set Windows Scaling, Time Stamping, Selective Acks, Path MTU Discovery, Black Hole Detection to Default.
Leave Max Duplicate Acks and TTL Blank
Save/Exit DrTcp
Reboot
Rerun the Tweak Test
Run Two Speed Tests from the two DIFFERENT cities nearest to you that are listed here: Speakeasy POPs
Also, test here »ftp://ftp1.optonline.net/test512
Note your transfer rate after about 30 seconds. Then cancel the download.
Post the URL for the New Tweak Test. For the TWO Speakeasy Tests, Copy and Paste the speed results from those tests and note the speed from the FTP download test. -- "You can observe a lot by watching". Yogi Berra |

• Look at your LQT in your first post. There is a big jump in latency at your hop from the hop above it. Read this FAQ and follow what it suggest. »Tweaking FAQ »I'm getting latency and/or packet loss. What can I do?
• Are you testing wired or wireless? Can you pull the router and test directly from the MODEM?

• Your MODEM is syncing at the correct line rate (DSL Speed (Kbits/Sec) 7645 863).
• It looks like you were originally testing wireless. Is that correct?
• You still have high latency at your hop. -- "You can observe a lot by watching". Yogi Berra |

ct124 join:2004-10-24 Jamaica, NY 2 edits | yes ur rite. Maybe i should try connect it wired to linksys. idk whats goin on. I had this issue for a week so far. when i had 3mbps/768 it was on point. i upgraded 7mb about a week ago. I am getting no luck with this. What about transmit power? The higher the number give u mean bad download speed. I really dont know what these number mean. |

• If I had to speculate at this juncture it could be that hop at your location is messing things up somewhat or there is an issue with your wireless setup.
• Output or TX Power How much power modem (upstream) or DSLAM (downstream) is using. Maximum recommended is about 15dB. The lower the power the better for this measurement. -- "You can observe a lot by watching". Yogi Berra |

• Again your speeds are like the wind. Sometimes blowing from the North and sometimes from the South.
• You should be getting at least 80% of your advertised speed. (6.1mb)
• If that is directly connected to the router, it is that hop at your location is messing things up somewhat or there is an issue with your wireless setup.
• Try different channels on the router and see which one gives you the best speed. -- "You can observe a lot by watching". Yogi Berra |
