Fairpoint speeds make no sense anymore

So after no luck increasing my dl/ul speeds through customer service, my speed somehow jumped to almost 3.0/768 a few weeks ago, what it should be. So now all of a sudden I receive a message from Fairpoint about the trouble ticket that I had from 4/22 and they tell me that I can only get 1.6/384 service. I did a speed test and got 1730/645. Higher than what they say but still way too low. I obviously just had full speed, how can they say I can't get it? Is it worth discussing with FP? Anyone have any ideas? I'd love to switch isps except my only other alternative out here is satellite.

3000/768 and 1500/384 are the same price. Which one you get depends on distance and condition of phone circuit.

Next step is to post modem stats. That will indicate sync speed and margin.

My assumption is that your line was marginal at 3000/768 and so they dropped speed to next tier.
