Simba7I Void Warranties join:2003-03-24 Billings, MT | Lawmakers to propose ban on driving while texting I hope this thing passes nationwide. I am soo sick of these people that pull this crap. I have almost been hit 8 times this year because some dipsh*t was texting or talking on their cellphone.
I hope they make it a law that, in order to talk and drive, hands-free equipment will be REQUIRED. TEXTING and driving will be prohibited and fined (almost the same as drinking and driving).
I use a Bluetooth earpiece when I talk. 1 edit | I agree it should be banned, but without a way to enforce it, making the law is a waste of time.
They banned texting, and non-handsfree phone use in California and it hasn't done a damn thing. People still yack away with their phones on their ears and swerve along the highway texting. -- AT&T U-Hearse Your funeral. Delivered.

| reply to Simba7 Frankly I'm amazed and frighten by the fact that people even remotely consider texting while driving, have people really become this cerebrally challenged?

Actually, using a cellphone any way you chose, even hands free, is the same as driving while drunk at a .08 level. Texting was estimaged to be 175% more likely to have an accident. You are 75% more likely to have an accident just talking on a cellphone.
4 people have rearended me; all of them talking on their cellphones. On cop told a lady, "If there was a law, I'd give you a ticket." He did nail her with reckless driving since she hit a parked car going 30 mph but my car had shock absorbers and I only moved a few feet, but enough to be in oncoming traffic. She griped to him I left the scene (for a parking lot passed the intersection) and he said, "Huh? He made the call to 911!" That got him to nail her with reckless driving. |

| reply to cameronsfx I was rear ended by a person who had a dog in their car, they glanced at the dog for a second and hit me. Lets Ban all pets from cars, also adjusting stereos while driving......in fact, lets outlaw anything but having your hands at 10 and 2 and driving at or below the speed limit. That will put a stop to traffic accidents!
And before you start spouting off statistics about how many people are using cell phones when they get into accidents, please consider all the OTHER THINGS that make people crash like being sleepy, distracted by kids, sun in their eyes, ....etc. Would making laws against all that increase any public safety whatsoever? No, cell phones are just an easy target for a grandstanding politician to fight so they can gain some political good points. |
