Run a promotion for those leaving Shaw.

I say for the small Fiber ISP, let them run a promotional discount for any customers willing to switch from Shaw. Mean while push aggressively to accumulate investors and footprint. Yes Shaw is significantly cheaper and most users will not see the benefit of Fiber service but this is where marketing and bundles come into play. Offer some incentives and features to make that price seem worth it and explain the future proof benefits Fiber access.

Novus caps aren't that low, when you compare them to the competition. In fact, who offers higher caps, except wholesale DSL providers?

I like your idea, but Novus is still in many ways a germinating company that needs all the dollars they can get. It's really telling that Shaw isn't offering this deal to the ILEC (TELUS) subscribers - they know they can't drive the ILEC under quickly.

On the other hand, 10Mbps upload on the Novus network is pretty awesome, and they can sell it with that (when do average people wait on the Internet these days? When uploading photos and videos to Facebook )

Novus has the most strict caps in Vancouver among the 3 companies that actually own their own lines. Telus, Shaw, and Novus.

Re: Run a promotion for those leaving Shaw.

Unfortunately the caps are not accurately described in the article. Shaw's cap is for total traffic, whereas for Novus the cap is applied separately for download and upload so essentially Novus' cap is twice that of Shaw's. 110 GB each way(on the lowest package) is a lot of traffic for a home user. I'm simply running out of things to download.

Also note that Novus is boosted download speeds on all home packages by 10 Mbps effective August 4th
