Doctor Olds : You should ask for help in the »Linksys Forum with getting the »Linksys to connect/updating the Firmware first. You need the latest stable »Linksys Firmware to be installed before you go any further.

Your ISP is usually PPPoE but in some areas it is DHCP.

Place the 5200 into Bridge Mode by using the link here:

»192.168.254.254/brgmode.htm

Once done, the Speedstream 5200 is no longer reachable and that is completely normal.

You should not need to reach it again. If you ever do then there is a reset procedure shown below:

Now go into the »Linksys and if you used PPPoE in your Speedstream then add your PPPoE Username and Password to the »Linksys after selecting PPPoE for the connection type. If it does not connect, then you needed to update the Firmware in the »Linksys to a newer version that has improved PPPoE support which is what I first suggested above.

Now if your 5200 used Bridged/DHCP instead without a Username and Password, then you would select "Automatically Obtain IP/DHCP" for the connection type in the »Linksys and it should now connect getting a IP from the DSLAM/AC. Leave all option fields blank or at the defaults in the »Linksys like Service Name, Host Name, or Domain Name if present on the connection settings pages. Then finally make sure UPnP is enabled in the »Linksys and that the »Linksys is setup to allow WAN side ping responses.

Regards,

Doctor Olds
--
What’s the point of owning a supercar if you can’t scare yourself stupid from time to time?

DMZ?

mazdanissan : I have been struggling for over a year now to conquer my NAT problems. I have a 5200 and a WRT54G to spread about wireless, this is also what my computer is hard wired into. Of course it wasn't until recently that I realized that the 5200 needs to be bridged, and to let the Linksys do the PPPoE. However when bridged with the 5200, the Linksys doesn't want to make a connection. If I can't get this Linksys sorted out (won't connect via PPPoE), would running the 5200 in DMZ and letting the Linksys do the NAT/NAPT/Port Forwarding be a feasible/safe option? I think this is a proper forum for this question.
