I know this is an "old" thread, relatively speaking, but even a month later my speeds are virtually the same as these above. Even on non-peak hours, it is absolute rubbish.

I spoke with a local CSR about a week ago who insisted it was my equipment. I said to her, "What if I told you it isn't my equipment, and had the data to back up my claim?" She then stated that I should set up an appointment for a technician to come test my setup.

I tried to explain to her that I am actually a newly certified network technician myself and could guarantee it's not my equipment, but since I didn't want one of their techs to check my stuff, the call was ended.

Honestly, if there were another alternative in Humboldt, I would switch in a hot second.

The technician is not going to assume it is your equipment, or shouldn't anyway. Their could be an issue at your house or on the feeder line. ( the line that feeds your house ). Could also be a node issue etc. But you need someone to come out there and start looking for it in order for it to get fixed.

Sorry to resurrect this thread from the dead, but I'm in DC on vacation and on a family members' internet on Comcast. I'm getting 12up and at least 2 or 3 down - Yes, Megs. This makes me see how much our internet back in Humboldt blows. I think I want to stay here. I'm in love...

Well, according to the local help desk, new "equipment" was installed last week. Speeds are back to where they are supposed to be. Ping is still a minor issue, but whatcha gonna to do?

well arcata is in two parts. i dont know the specifics of it but our "node" or whatever that goes to our neighborhood (by the park) is ALWAYS slow and overloaded. its always been a meg or less. you should see my torrent speeds at home, vs outside of arcata, vs in DC............
