Re: 2 key workshops will decide where stimulus money spent I think its just going to be a crony payout, like the spendulus. Seriously if they really wanted to increase broadband, they would just hire companies to install infrastructure. |

The big bounce might run out of gas sometime in 2010 or 2011 - then many of the unavoidable realities of the post-credit bubble economy such as chronic overcapacity and disquietingly high unemployment levels may assert themselves more prominently.

and now they're going to tax the employers even more thus killing more jobs and creating more wellfare people

The infrastructure is there in many places, however it isn't open. Cable and DSL are increasingly FTTN, but those same companies aren't willing to let other providers tap into that fiber at the node level and deploy the last few thousand feet of glass. |

The "unemployment" statistic is only counted while your on Unemployment Benefits and they do "race" and "economic" weighting to make that statistic useless anyways. As people loose benefits, they disappear from the statistic making everything rosy. What about the homeless who have no phone number you can reach them at and cellphone only households? |
