| [netopia] Which Model ?
I have a question: Since I have AT & T DSL service, and am pondering giving a Netopia DSL modem a try, on basis of hearing that they have very good thoroughput. Which model do you people recommend? I have heard a lot of positives about the 3341 and 3347 models, particularly the 2nd version. At same time, I heard more negatives about their 2xxx line of models. From my research, it has been gathered that most of the 3xxx models are solid, while the 2xxx's are flaky. Is this true? Many thanks for any input. |

| I use a 3346N-002 purchased on eBay. Been very happy with it. Have no experience with other Netopia routers.
If you purchase a used one get newer version (N) that supports ADSL2. ADSL2/ADSL2+ is second generation DSL spec. Provides better connection on long or marginal lines. DSL ISP's typically do not advertise support for ADSL2 but get it automatically as they purchases DSLAM line cards. If DSLAM and modem support ADSL2 it is used preferentially, if not fallback to ADSL.
