Fios, Schmios, where is it?

The shit ain't here so who cares. Fios service isn't available where it matters. Buildings and multi dwellings around the Bronx and Brooklyn. NYC is a concrete jungle. CV is not gonna care about losing a few mafiosos and fat cats from Mill Basin and Bergen Beach. Verizon is working at a snails pace. 2014? LMAO, yeah RIGHT! I'll believe it when I see it. Even CV knows they wont make it by that deadline. With Verizon's cherry picking and redlining I don't believe they'll have the entire city covered.

By the time they do finish deploying the city no one will really care, they'll probably be throttling and capping and the picture quality won't be as good as used to be not to mention the rising cost.

Believe me, I'm the last to defend CV but Verizon's deployment efforts right now are a joke. Flashy commercials for their service and nobody can get the damn thing! I've seen Fios in action at a friends on Staten Island and it's not all that impressive to me. I saw plenty of the same old pixellation that I see on CV. The quality was marginally better but not as dramatic as some of the fanboys here claim

Funny how "nobody" can get the damn thing but theyre adding 300,000 video subs every quater. Get educated.

oh.. and no reason for your friend to EVER have pixellation. He simply has a problem that can and will be fixed if he calls it in. With Cablevision, Ive had pixellation that cant be fixed for 5 years now and 4 tech visits !

Get educated? Why don't you follow your own advice and learn how to spell. It's quarter, not quater. LOL

If your not impressed by FIOS then did you even bother to post a rant about not having it then???. Sounds to me that you would very much like to have they service. I live the bronx and have the service. As do many other areas thru out the bronx. And haven't you seen the post's on this site about the smaller ONT boxes for apartment buildings and MDU's???? And trust me VZ will meet that 2014 deadline they have invested 60 billion dollars into this technology. Basically if this fails VZ could out of business.

Where do you live in the Bronx? Riverdale? Throgs Neck? When Verizon hits buildings on the Grand Concourse and the Fordham and Tremont sections then I'll start taking them seriously but for now they're a joke and CV doesn't care about losing little houses. Doesn't matter. Deploy multple dwelling with hundreds of residents. Co-Op for example and CV will start shitting bricks. Verizon is too busy cherry picking now.

FWIW, it's available in my parents building. 39 story high rise in lower Manhattan. It's actually in all 3 buildings that make up the complex they live in. Some 1,500+ apartments.

So VZ is making their way around.

Don't say that CV doesn't care about losing little houses. I get CV reps on my block on a very regular basis (in Mill Basin, Brooklyn) knocking on my door asking me to switch over to them with all kind of incentives. CV has lost almost the entire Mill Basin/Bergen Beach/Marine Park area to a combination of FiOS and DirecTV with a smattering of Dish Network.

I just switched to FiOS and have to say that the PQ on FiOS is better than DirecTV's PQ.

And there is a HUGE difference in speed between CV's OOL and FiOS. I could spend an hour downloading a 700MB live show from bt.etree.org on OOL. Grabbing that same show on my 35/30 (as tested this morning) FiOS connection, at 1.5MB/s d/l speeds, got the show in less than 10 minutes.

If all that stuff you mentioned actually does happen (which they most-likely wont), then no one would care. And if the picture quality isn't so impressive to you, then why are you so upset that Fios isn't in your area? Sounds like someone is jealous.
