[COLORADO] Dinosaur ridge field trip

This was once a beach. You can tell by the patterns imprinted into the sandstone, with the patterns being asymmetrical.

Baby and mom tracks
Last and final field trip for my Physical geology class.Kind of boring lol, but learned a lot about all the rock layers.I'm working on my essays(boooooo), and I have type up 3 reports on all of the field trips, and turn them in by Monday.

lol, only the field trip was somewhat boring.Physical geo class is quite fun though.

Here's a few more pics.You can tell a lot by the different layers.

The wierd ball is a concretion, formed when mineral growth cemented sand grains around a central nucleus.Don't quote me on this, but if I remember what my professor was saying, there's a good couple hundred million years represented in all these layers.Showing the ocean rising, and then residing.Then once it resided, it shows the different environments CO was under at the time.Even shows volcanic eruption with a thin white layer of dust.I believe CO was also a tropical environment, and we did see crocodile tracks preserved.Also, the layers were once horizontal at one time.Then uplift caused it be in its current postion.
