Verizon FiOS → [northeast] Brooklyn,NY FIOS Deployments

Hey guys, I passed by 13th ave and 67st and I ask one of the guys working with their truck, they told me they're installing fios.

I just love how Verizon wires up every other block besides mine. I happen to be on 83rd between 14th and 15th Ave. The problem with me is that there happens to be no utility poles in front of the houses on this particular block. All the utility poles are in the back yard.

I'm guessing verizon needs permission to run the fiber in our back yard? Meanwhile the fiber has been passed through 14th ave and 15th ave...84th street and 82nd etc....but then again, they have utility poles in front of their houses...This blows..

Yeah, but you're in real East Flatbush, like the East numbered streets in the Rugby area. I'm in Wingate/Prospect-Lefferts Gardens/East Flatbush. I'm in the middle of a triple venn diagram! You're CB14 while I'm CB9 as well as CB14 in some respects. What central office serves your area?

Does anyone know when Fios will be available on Ave H between East 12th and 16th.

are the pole in front of the home or in the back of the home? also check to see if there is fiber wire placed on the pole if there are 3 or 4 wires 1 for cable tv 1 for telephone copper y dont knw if you have con ed on that pole but that would be 3 and the fiber wire would be 3 or 4 wire. if its there then within 3 - 6 months you can get service once they light it up.

The poles around me are in back of the houses.

when will Fios be available around 86th street 4th ave area? We are desperate over here. Please help

well there is good news for people who have poles in back of their homes. just read on page 5 where it says in sunset park they are tearing up the streets on 5 th ave and laying fiber on the main aves that will feed the fiber going to the backyard poles. the only request i have is if someone sees verizon techs laying fiber underground or on poles please take a picture even if its one of those camera phones and say where this is happening so that we can help each other get a better idea of when fiber is coming. for those asking when you will get fiber just look ans see if there is a 3 rd or 4 th wire on the poles whether its front or in the back of homes and in 3 - 6 months you should have it . or even if you see a verizon techs working in your area go up and ask them. calling verizon verizon and asking when its going to be available is wasting your time cause they dont even know until it is wired and ready to give install. so look at the poles and see if there is 3 rd or 4 th wire on the poles- cable, phone , electric if you have it on poles and then fios fiber cable. if its there then within 3 - 6 months you will have it.

Looks like FIOS is in 14th & 15th Ave in the 70s. Just checked online last night with my address and it's available. Called this morning and was able to place an order with installation scheduled for APR 6.

Actually it doesn't matter if the pole is in the back of the house. Are there also poles in the front of the house? My POTS service comes thru the back but I just got FIOS installed and the fiber are on the poles in the front.

on my Block 83rd street between 14th and 15th ave. The Poles are in the back. Doesn't surprise me that verizon would not put FIOS because of the location of the poles.

I wonder when they'll come to Bushwick ( 11237 )?

looks like verizon is wiring Sunset Park putting up fiber on the poles in front of homes starting from 60 th street going from 7 th ave and up. but these are still poles in front of homes. someone in sunset park mentioned on previous thread that on 5th ave in the 50's streets they are tearing up the street to lay fiber on the main avenue but i think they just need to access/open up the manhole and run the fiber cable from one street to the next and go manhole to manhole wouldn't that be just easy instead of tearing up the street? if someone knows or seen of how verizon lays fiber underground either through manholes or tearing up the street please give feedback.

They are laying down FIOS cables into the ground between 3rd Avenue and Ridge Blvd on 76th Street as I type this.
These lines will go to the backpoles and should cover a few blocks around the area

I wonder when they are going to finish the 11230 area?

has anyone seen verizon laying fiber in the ground or tearing up the streets in the sunset park area like in the 50's and 40's streets on 5th avenue?

i haven't however i did notice the sidewalks from about 46st to 39st have some kind of whit markings on them i didnt go past 39st so i dont know how far it goes or if this is even for fios

it looks like verizon is starting to do those areas of brooklyn where the poles are in the back of homes in the back yards. some threads have said they see verizon digging and laying fiber in the ground to wire those blocks/streets that have poles in the back of homes. so areas like bay ridge ,sunset park and park slope will be getting fiber soon. so if anyone sees verizon laying fiber in the streets in these areas please post what ave and street so that we can keep ourselves better informed that fios is here.

Commute daily between home & Sunset Park area 11220 - we see those new white VZ Fios truck in our neighborhood all the time, the contractors are mostly done - easily 6 months ago at 11354, 11356 & 11357 with the initial work, but some trucks are back with the tower buckets - working up on the outdoor poles. It could still be months away after they "hang" the thick blacks cables between the poles and if it stopped at the next block over, nothing much you can do but wait since the local CO aren't helpful at all - "wait for the VZ email or field folks to put flyers or notices at your door steps ...."

Neighbors 1 block to our north & those even farther out from the CO (over 18,000 ft.) could order Fios packages yet 3 months later, we are still not able to. Parent's house at 11367 could get 15/5 Fios triple for $89.99 plus taxes, fees, etc. with price locked for 24 months - order not taken online & must call CO (prices do vary & deals not always honored .... typical VZ billing practices, of course) -

Meanwhile, TWC is offering their tri'ps at $99 month with boost speed up to 15 downstream, upstream isn't good at maybe .768 but really at .512 (so it won't be a major improvement for uploading to us - already at .384 but download will be 12 plus times faster - at 15MB vs. 1MB now over aging & frail, neglected old & thin copper wiring)

Arrrrrgh .... patience, I've had it with waiting for Fios. Might just sign with TWC for a no-contract TP plan, port our voice # over & maybe by 2012, we will return to Fios when they get their acts together & rehire some of the field techs then.

does anyone see any fios work being done in bay ridge, sunset park or park slope? i know they started digging to lay the fiber in the ground in bay ridge. so if anyone sees or can take pictures of fiber being put on poles or digging in the ground in these areas please post. because its kinda quiet I am just wondering if this has anything to do with tje supposed slowdown.

Recently went on the NYCDOT permits site. There were two permits installations going on between Bedford and Rogers on Hawthorne. That is about a block north and a block west from me. I'm going to go check out what that installation was. Hopefully, it's FiOS-related because at least I'll know that FiOS is coming to Prospect Lefferts Gardens/Wingate!

Looks like East Flatbush/Rugby, which is south of my area, has a few more installations going on. Lucky CB 17.

they are now tearing up the sidewalks and street by 39st where i seen the paint markings however these are regular trucks not verizon they seem to be putting some gray pipes in the street not sure if they're plastic or metal looks plastic they also have that big machine with the big saw on it that cuts the street up

just looked at the permit database and it seems the work being done by 39st-46st and 5th ave is for timewarner they have conduit permits in this area so no fios weird thing is i have tw wideband so why are they putting more fiber in place?

How about the CCNY area, zip code 10031? Any info when it's gonna be done?
