They just posted a notice in my building today that the two building complex I live in on Shore Rd. and 74th St. in Bay Ridge is going to get FiOS! Installation work starts this Monday and they say it will take about a month to complete...was not expecting that!

Has to be yard (or the back which I can't and have never seen - both would abut the backyards of private houses). It's two connected buildings with over 150 apartments.

I can only hope they decide to do the surrounding blocks as well, but my block has backyard poles, so I doubt it. That said, I did notice my street had some paint about "shallow fiber optic" that I posted before, so who knows. So close, yet...

more digging being done in bay ridge, park slope and sunset park. they are wiring the main fiber on the avenues and streets. these areas have poles in back of homes . once they put up the wire on the poles in the back it won't be long before you can get fios cause then they only have to light it up or make it active. but these areas i asked tech said will be active by next summer 2011 verizon tech said. my central office that is getting wired is 14 th ave. so others who have 14 th ave as there co it wont be long now.

i live by 39st i see them driving by every morning on my way to work also seen them breaking the street on 49st and 48st and 5th ave also on 49st between 7th and 8th ave

verizon laying more fiber in ground in Bay Ridge, Sunset Park, Park Slope. also verizon starting to put fiber wires on poles in back of homes. one verizon tech told me they are doing Red Hook with poles in back yards. thats a good sign that whoever has poles in the back of homes or in the back yards they are working on them to wire up and finish wiring the neighborhoods with those poles. if anyone sees any fios work being done on a street avenue or neighborhood do post . this way we can keep brooklynites informed.

well well looks like my block will be done soon i live on 40th between 5th and 6th ave i see some permits for this area poles are in back but i also noticed that the entire block has been marked with orange/red spray paint on the streets and the sidewalk on both sides of the block each building has been marked in the front sidewalk is it possible that they may break the sidewalk in front of each building and get the fiber in that way? or are these marks telling them not to dig there? anyone know how to read these marks? i can maybe take pics

well well looks like fios is now available in sunset park on 53st between 3rd and 4th ave i seen them breaking the street on this block a few months ago so i decided to look up a few addys from this block and to my surprise its available by the way this block has poles in the back dunno if that's where they put the fiber as i seen them breaking the street up

Came back to my area of Brooklyn for a bit and apparently, Verizon's trucks have been running up and down here. Looked out front and, surely enough, there is a new cable out there with an orange label on it that says "CAUTION: FIBER OPTIC CABLE". FiOS is coming soon here in Prospect-Lefferts Gardens!

update a crew showed up yesterday and broke the street on 40th and 5th and part of 40st going up from 5th ave to 6th but not all the way up to 6th ave they put the white plastic pipes in the street and resealed it 2 new permits have now came up for this block

fios work going on on 47st between 4th and 5th ave they are breaking the street near the 4th end i noticed they are putting some weird metal poles on a lot of blocks 47st has 2 also one of the same poles on 49st between 4th and 5th ave almost on the 4th ave end this pole already has a metal box on it with what looks like fiber also this block has the streets and sidewalks spray painted

My parents live on 51st between fourthave and 3rd ave i went to my backyard i see the fiber rolled up.

does anyone know how long it takes for an apartment building to be completely ready with fios installation ? it seems that Verizon laid down a cable from a pole around my building.
