[Internet] Brighthouse Intermittent ConnectionTrying to resolve an issue with BH regarding our Internet. We are having a high amount of connection issues over the last few weeks. The connection issues happens in spurts. At some points rendering the service unusable.
BH Customer Service has worked with us and we have had two visits. We are now in the process of scheduling our third visit and I would like to try to find out what if anything is the next step in getting the service repaired.
So far the Line Tech and PC Tech have visited us. The line tech replaced connections and possibly some line and the PC Tech replaced the modem (3rd one in 3 weeks) and proclaimed all is well. Claimed our current modem had a 41% error rate. There appears to have been little to no improvement in the stability of the connection after two visits.
What can I expect? What questions can I ask? Is there anything more that I can do to try and improve the connection on my own? |

Cableguy, Listen im in indiana and having the same problem with brighthouse. We have changed the drop from the tap to the house, cable modem a couple times a new router and they claim at BH that it has a good signal but it goes in and out almost evey 5 min. I have also put a new gigabit nic card in the computer that is hooked to the modem. we also have a tv with thier dvr in the next room that gets pixelated and has stuttering sound. But they keep trying to tell me its on our end I dont think i beleive that cause it worked perfect for the longest time not too mention i have put two diff computers on in the place of the normal one. I have check the rwin, mtu checked for viruses and rootkits. Any ideals? jhusselman jim.husselman@vzw.blackberry.net |

Re: [Internet] Brighthouse Intermittent Connection (Tampa)I have similar issues. Problem comes and goes. I have had months go by with no "noticeable" outage. Since 24 August, my connection drops at the modem from 2-12 times a day. Have had line from tap to house replaced, all connections in the box replaced and line from box to modem replaced. Today, getting the modem replaced. Is there anything we can tell them that will get them to actually inspect and repair the problems, which must be down or up the line somewhere other than my house and back yard? |

About every night between 8-10 pm it drops out a couple of times a night. I also noticed while at home this morning dropped off at around 11am. Just dropped out right before this post. Also was having DNS issues Sunday. I just had a guy out this week check my signals so it's not an issue there. |

I have a little utility that Pings my DNS Server every two minutes and echos to a text file (a crude heartbeat program). Over the last week I have been out as follows (I don't log outages of only a few minutes): 09/02 16:03 - 17:40 87 mins 09/03 09:00 - 09:45 45 mins 09/03 11:09 - 11:25 16 mins 09/03 12:20 - 13:25 65 mins 09/03 14:14 - 15:15 61 mins 09/03 15:19 - 15:35 16 mins 09/04 09:44 - 10:07 23 mins 09/05 15:14 - 17:37 143 mins 09/06 14:30 - 15:07 37 mins |

I am having the same problem for the past 2 weeks, here in Daytona Beach. The router reports the cable disconnected from the WAN, for about a minute, several times in an hour ; mostly in the evenings.
This problem appears to be widespread in central Florida. What the hell is going on ????? |

In a last ditch effort (before switching to FIOS) BrightHouse came out and confirmed there is stress on the cable at the tap. Construction request put in to relash the cable to the guy wire (who knows how ling that will take or if they will even do it). In the interim, the guy did something by the tap to improve the signal. Let's see if there is any improvement in uptime. |

I have had no outages since 9/10. Construction crew is supposed to come re-lash the cable to the guy wire (no firm date). Based on result from the quick fix, I suspect the relashing will resolve the problem. |

same here in land o lakes...lots of drops in the last few days... of course, bh is clueless when i call tech support, i'm gettingthe "no ranging response received" errors in my modem's log, but no time is set forth there (maybe because i rebooted it)...anyway, going to call and tell them to check the tap
you know, the last time i had problems withthese guys, i wrote the ceo a letter and had three techs visit me unannounced at 6:00 pm one night...long story short, after two days, they reported they had a problem with the fiber optic line at the node of my apartment complex, and they actually fixed it....they offered one month free because of the crap quality i was getting for so long...i said, well, you can either give me 6 months free (from when it all started) or give everyone (about 500 customers) in the complex one month free, its up to you guys....we settled on 4 months free |
