| When it works, it's great but . . . .
So I had to reinstall Windows 7. The RTM version didn't work out so well for me and I decided to go back to a Release Candidate version. After reinstalling Windows, MJ didn't want to work. Error 9, not connected to internet, lucky you, updating, all came and went without a solution. "Normal Hi Speed"/"Air Card" window came and went back to the old style window. Finally after 3 days of on and off tinkering, it started working normally and is now stable but what a hassle.
When MJ works, it's absolutely wonderful BUT the whole USB dongle idea is just not workable. Windows is a pain in the neck all by itself without combining another temperamental device to it. |

1 edit | How did you obtain a RTM version of Windows7? I have partitioned my drive and have the Windows7 Release Candidate version installed. So far I am pretty impressed with Windows7 however I have no intention of upgrading on October 22nd as I am sure it will be a nightmare with drivers not working etc. I will wait until March of next year and then either upgrade to Windows7 or possibly completely switch to the Mac if I can convince myself to make the move. |

2 edits | reply to prestonlewis There are a number of RTM copies floating around out there (demonoid.com in my case). Microsoft TechNet will be releasing copies to members soon (Aug 8 I think). As for Win7 and drivers, I haven't noticed any big deal about it. Win7 says it doesn't support LaserJet 1000s for example but if you go to control panel, printers, and use the XP drivers, Win7 likes my LaserJet1000 just fine. Same with Adobe Acrobat 5 which Win7 says isn't compatable. I just ignore the warning, install Adobe 5 anyway and it works just fine. If there are no Win7 drivers, using Vista drivers seems to work OK.
The only software/hardware that has absolutely not worked under Win7 for me is DirecTV2PC software that lets you view recordings from your DVR on your computer.
The RTM copy I got probably isn't a a proper copy. I'm going to wait for Microsoft Technet to release a copy with a hash that you can verify. As a Technet subscriber, I can download a copy legally and use it. Join Microsoft Technet. It's great.
MJ, however, was really fussy under Win7 RTM. I can get MJ to work under Win7 RC with a little work but Win7 RTM was stubborn. Could be a bad copy of Win7 RTM since Technet hasn't released it to members officially yet. I decided it was best to wait and went back to RC.
The recent MJ update seems to have a lot of people upset, not just me. |

W7 is not a commercially available product yet, and MJ has given no indication their device has been made compatible with it. Methinks you'll agree that all injuries in this case are self inflicted. |

Methinks you'll agree that all injuries in this case are self inflicted. I have a Vaio laptop (XP), a HP desktop (XP) and a dual boot HP quad core Phenom (XP and Win7). Tried 3 separate routers, one a commercial heavy duty job from work with no success. Two separate MJ dongles will not work on any machine. My Linksys PAP2-NA continues to work perfectly normal but MJ hasn't worked consistently since last Thursdays update for the new windows (hi speed vs. air card). |
