Actually my understanding is that particular year had some kind of interesting motor that was very powerful but of course was kneecapped by Chrysler.... with some modifications it's true nature was apparent...

That was the 2.2 turbo'd K-car engine if me remembers, the one that helped Dodge get a great reputation for having blown head gaskets.

I wanted to do that to a friends K-car, but the car died and went to the junk yard (we were basically equal owners).
