| Love my ZyWall2ws but need 50Mbps > firewall! Options ?
Whats my cheapest solution to getting the features offered by the Zywall but with a greater firewall throughput?
Also would I get 100mbps by setting up the DMZ to a virtual machine just used for fast downloads when needed?
Any help or suggestions appreciated. |

| Configuration of the ASA can be via both CLI and ASDM (Adaptive Security Device Manager) »www.cisco.com/go/asdm
I'm a big fan of the ASA 5505 but you need to be aware of its limitations. The numbers are impressive but the entry level version has a restriction on the number of outgoing connections, DMZ functionality and it doesn't support trunking amongst other things. In addition it is not a 'UTM' device like the ZyWALLs although an add on 'Intrusion Prevention System' card has recently become available. See »www.cisco.com/en/US/products/ps6···son.html for some information.
Upgrades to licensing can get expensive relative to the price of the entry level model and there's also a SMARTnet contract to consider if you want access to support and firmware updates, although the latter is reasonably priced IMHO. |

| reply to NiklasUK If you can get your hands on a Prestige 2612 device it should do the firewall performance you need.
The VPN is a bit limited compared to the ZyWALL series, but its just fine if you do not do any fancy configurations or want to run it as your main VPN concentrator. -- "Perl is executable line noise, Python is executable pseudo-code."
