 | Good See, now that's what I'm talking about. This is a decent speed at a good price point. Some will want more speed, but this will do nicely for those who just need basic service.
My only question is how spotty DSL coverage is. This deal isn't so great if you can't get it. |

| For example, here Verizon doesn't have a DSLAM in the CO, and most places couldn't get DSL even if they did.
That said, by line length to my knowledge I'd be able to get 1024/384 DSL here, provided there are no bridged taps, etc. in the way (pretty sure there are). Would be lovely to be off of a wireless service with half the speed and twice the price.
Even in town I'm sure some people would switch from cable to DSL for internet if they could get this promo. $1999 is the same price as TWC charges for 768/128, so this would be a nice little bump for people who just need *some sort of broadband*.
As for DSL being the new dialup, the sitance limitations etc. hae some parallels (line quality on dialp affects connection speed). Same thing with price in some areas; $20/month is what people used to pay for dialup. However in many places cable gets halfway decent speeds where DSL isn't available. Since cable infrastructure is newer, it's a whole lot rarer that you have cable plant that won't support HSI than copper pairs that can't do dSL... |
