Re: Huge NEWS TODAY!!! (TiVo)!!!

That's some awesome news! Reading the article made me curious.... Is this TIVO partnership making our DVR's a TIVO DVR? If not, does it cost more to get a TIVO DVR or is it still the $17.95/month cost we see now?

EDIT: And is this going to be available in ALL markets?

It will be available in all markets, and it's a new DVR. Pricing is still up in the air but this is not a software push to existing hardware in the field.

It's a new box with more features than you can shake a stick at

sweet deal man. There is a 99.999% chance i'll be getting the tivo box for a few reasons...

First reason - ability to schedule a recording from my iphone anywhere.

Second Reason - Youtube. I want an appleTV, just for youtube, now i won't need it.

Third Reason - Pizza without calling. Call me lazy, but the ability to order pizza with my remote... priceless. EVEN if my iphone can do it... doing it on my TV is a lot cooler lol.

I could go on, lol.

I'm looking forward to the ability to move recorded TV over to my iPod/iPhone and laptop. And the multi-room DVR functionality also sounds very exciting.

But if Netflix streaming is available on it, it will be perfect

This could be interesting. Not sure I'm willing to pony up for a Tivo subscription though. Unless that comes included with the RCN service while at the current HDDVR rental fee.
That would be a winning combo.

It's like Ragu... It's all in there... The TiVo subscription is built into the DVR fee. As for what that price will be , that is all still being finalized.

This might sound redundent. But, nowhere does it say the ability to order ppv from my remote like I can currently do. Is that possible?

More thoughts -

Will we be able to add external SATA drives for storage?
Will you guys totally be getting rid of the motorola boxes you own and operate?

Must admit... I'm going to like not having to buy a tivo box and getting it's services all in one from you guys. The fact i'd have to own the tivo with my own money made me not get one. Cause if the tivo broke, i'm out the money, whereas if the box i rent from you breaks... i take a ten minute trip and get a brand new box no questions asked.

Re: [All Markets] Huge NEWS TODAY!!! (TiVo)!!!

For those who already have series 3/HD models, will they NEED a new box for RCN Video on Demand, or will the cablecards work? I have no intention of getting new boxes just for that, but I'm curious. Thanks!

Regarding the PPV , We have to do some work to build a PPV application that will allow you to order with your remote. The goal is to have that in place prior to launch.

Yes, The TiVo's will support external drives. You can add up to a TB external

Re: [All Markets] Huge NEWS TODAY!!! (TiVo)!!!

Wow. If the price is right (a big "IF"), then this is a game changer for me. I never seriously considered satellite or SECTV, but if FIOS came to Easton, I'd switch in a second. This might be just enough to keep me hanging in with RCN.

Will the Youtube feature on the Tivo DVR support HD Youtube videos?

Pricing isn't finalized, but will it cost more monthly than the current DVRs?
