| reply to anonAUGUSTA Just heard on the radio comcast is bringing DOCSIS 3 to Augusta.
"Comcast is having a launch party at the Augusta Mall to celebrate great new features." "Onscreen caller id, [some other dumb shtuff], increasing their base highspeed internet to 12M, and new speed teirs upto 50Mbps"
Hopefully Knology will follow suit in Augusta. |

| reply to anonAUGUSTA Odd, i have had really crappy speeds and ping, until i was just downloading a file at 1021 kbps and was not expecting it to stay at that speed the whole 30 min it took to DL, so here is the test i did right after. seems they are actually doing some kind of work, i hope.

| reply to marcusm88 "50 Mb per second"!!! thats like 400mbps.... jk jk.. I'll give the comcast guy the benefit of doubt and assume he said megabits. We can't expect a reporter to know the difference between bits and bytes.

1 edit | I also love how they are still pushing the "choices" - NOT channels.
"in addition to more than 1,000 HD choices"
If that's the case, I have more than 4-5000 HD "choices" with D*! -- Certified Jenius! |

Augusta's been consistently at ~ 6.5M.

| reply to marcusm88 said by marcusm88 :Does anyone know which markets knology competes with another cable providers? To answer my own question i found this:

Verizon has Fios in the Pinellas County market.
Comcast is rolling out DOCSIS 3 in the Augusta Market on Sep 2nd. |

tidal Tidal Premium join:2001-01-18 Madison, AL | reply to anonAUGUSTA It's been absolutely sucking this week. I'm fluctuating between 800kbps to 7Mbps and I'm on Edge.
I think they over sold this area. |

Over sold, riiight... Here is a quote from Cisco
"Ways of relieving downstream congestion include:
*
Reducing the number of cable modems per downstream If there are too many cable modems connected to a particular downstream, or if users on a particular downstream are heavy users of downstream bandwidth, then the best solution is to move some users on the congested downstream channel to another downstream channel. This typically is accomplished by splitting a group of downstream fiber nodes associated with the downstream into two separate groups and assigning each of the new groups separate downstream channels. Refer to What is the Maximum Number of Users per CMTS."
So if that's the case and if it's that simple... Why aren't they doing that? Why aren't they adding more nodes and why aren't they implementing this solution? |

Can't see the beachfront for all the hotels & condos! (concrete jungles) I like chunky women, thank you very much! (more pushin' for the cushion!) Read my posts from 3-4 months ago - cable NOT always stable, speeds in the toilet. ...and... I ride a bike!
(I'll give ya the KKK, can't we all get along!)
