Re: slow load/timeout google maps since uverse Hello, this is Matt with U-Verse Tier II Technical Support. I want to resolve your issue as quickly as possible. Please send me your account information by PM (private message) or to uversecare@att.com, sounds like it could also be outside wiring or maybe just a problem with the U-Verse gateway itself.
Thanks, Matt

| Sorry Matt, but the above posts appear to be correct, the 3800HGV-B with 5.29.105.94 appears to have some sort of horrible DNS related issue that hasn't been resolved in a very long time. I keep trying Google Maps since switching nothing except my DNS setting from auto(dhcp from the 2wire RG) to the IP of my Linux server, and it has worked instantly and without issue every single time, where as it failed to load quickly every single time before that change. |

Ok, not a problem, I'm just glad to see the issue is resolved, if you have any further questions let me know!

| I wouldn't call it resolved, but there is a work-around for this issue that isn't that difficult (even if you don't run your own Linux DNS server, you can still set your DNS to AT&T's or any other DNS server out there instead of using the RG's).
Resolved would be a firmware update that fixes the 2wire RG to not do whatever exactly it is doing wrong with DNS here. |

 | Matt, Please escalate this issue. Also please escalate that there is no information on the Uverse Support site to resolve this. It will save everyone (including ATT) a lot of time to if the simple work around is posted. Thanks, Tom in Kansas - A Much Happier Uverse Customer
I have tried both the second RG (Apple Extreme) and hard coding. Both work well. I don't use OpenDNS as I know ATT will have much tighter privacy and security protections.
Setup: Uverse 3800HGV-B 12x1.5mbps service + Uverse Voice Apple Extreme (11n 5GHz mode) as AP Airport (11g) as AP mode Fonero's WiFi router Sprint Airave Femto cell Vonage VoIP Linksys PAP2 w/ Gizmo5 Service |
